Northern Lights Interiors was established in 2008 in Saltburn, by me, Ted Jeffery and my partner, Shirley Johnston, following relocation from The Scottish Borders.
I started my career in lighting whilst working for LASSCO; a major London based architectural salvage company, where I worked on an incredible range of hanging lights, wall lights, and chandeliers.
After eight years in London, the desire for wide open spaces and countryside took me to Stow in the Scottish Borders, where I started a business in period lighting and chandelier restoration. I carried out work for local customers, electricians and Edinburgh based antique dealers. During this time Shirley and I decided we would like to live by the sea, and moved to Saltburn, where we now have wide open spaces, countryside and sea.
I started a new business (E.B.Jeffery-Chandelier restoration) in 2007, with a rapidly growing stock of assorted lights and chandeliers, which I displayed in newly acquired show rooms. It then became obvious that there was a large expanse of empty floor space.
Being incorrigible collectors (auctions, antique centres and fairs, car boots, etc, etc), our home was now overflowing with an eclectic mix of wonderful items. We suddenly realised that we could combine business with pleasure and carry on collecting. All we had to do was move everything to the showrooms.
This was the point at which Northern Lights Interiors was conceived.
Northern Lights Interiors provide an excellent range of chandeliers and period lighting. Chandeliers are accessible to everyone, regardless of lifestyle and very much part of modern, eclectic interiors, adding a touch of glamour and decadence to any home. To complement the lighting, we now have a selection of stylish, period, retro and quirky items, all with the emphasis being on quality and design.
